2007 is the Centenary Year for Scouting – 100 years of fun, excitement, adventure and achievement for literally millions of young people throughout the world, many of whom have become famous for their exploits – Scouts have walked on the moon, become Prime Minister, England football captain and own an airline etc., etc.,

In 2007 there are over 28 million Scouts in virtually every country in the world and in August this year over 44,000 Scouts from virtually all these countries will gather together at Highlands Park in Essex for the 2007 World Jamboree with a theme of ‘One World One Promise’ for all faiths and culture.

On Wednesday 1st August, 2007 at 8 am local time, Scouts past and present throughout the world will renew the Scout Promise. Throughout Greater Manchester there will be many opportunities for Scouts to renew their Promise on this unique occasion – look out for further details on this Website.

There will be many local celebratory events around the world in 2007 and Greater Manchester East Scouts will be no exception. A full calendar of events will be taking place throughout the year and most will be listed in our ‘Diary’ accessible on this Home Page of our Website.

The main celebratory event for Greater Manchester East will be our own Centenary Camp from the 25th to the 28th May, 2007 at our campsite Linnet Clough where we expect over 1,500 campers and 800 day visitors to share a fantastic weekend programme of fun and activities – a truly “once in a 100 years experience.” Every Scout Group in Greater Manchester East is expected to be represented.

This Centenary Camp will be officially opened at 7 pm on Friday evening of the 25th May with a glittering opening ceremony. We "COUNTDOWN" to the Opening Ceremony.........
